Got the April Showers Blaahs; Ideas that will make you smile

Rain, rain go away....
Got a case of Spring Fever?  Is the rain making you blue?  Here are some things that always pull me out of the dumps:

Sneak off somewhere:  On one of your daily errands carve a few extra minutes to sneak off to a place that makes you happy and just window shop and take in the sights.  Here are some tried and true spots that bring a smile to my face.
  • At the local flower market I love daydreaming and planning my ideal garden. If you go at an off hour, you can take the time and talk to the gardening experts.  Use this time to ask them questions that you would be too busy to ask if you were there for a "real" reason.  I usually take pictures of my favorite pots and plants with my camera phone and look at them later for ideas.  Here is my favorite local spot:   Poor Boys
  • Browsing my favorite clothing shop gets me excited about upcoming events and the impending season.  I love seeing what's in style and then going home and seeing if I have anything similar in my closet, Anthropologie.
  • Browse the local Trader Joe's for new recipe items and marinades.
  • Belvedere Square: At Belevedere Square I like to walk around and smell the fresh bread baking, read wine labels, and looks at the latest quiche creations make at the Smokery.
Get out and do something for yourself.  For more fun Spring accessories and ideas click here!
Don't forget Wedding Season is on it's way click here for ideas!

Fondly,

Wedding Gifts: When the registry just won't do.

Furtub.com launches it's newest gift tub collections...just in time for wedding season.
email melissa@furtub.com for more info...these babies are brand new!

The “Beach Chic” couple…$50.00

A perfect combination of French Riviera and the Maui Coast the “Beach Chic’” wedding tub includes:

The Montpellier Candlesticks set of 3
- subtle coastal elegance. This ceramic candlestick trio is glazed in white with fossilized seashell accents peeking through. These chic coastal candlesticks are super unique and versatile in any configuration of three. Each trio comes ready for taper or pillar candles.

The Porcelain Pineapple - Welcome, bienvenue, & aloha with an intricate porcelain pineapple accent. This extremely detailed pineapple sculpture is the perfect addition to "BLAAH" bookshelves and end tables. Nestle it in with your favorite books and picture frames for a welcoming touch. 3"W X 7"H

The “Around the World” couple…$50.00

Rustic romance emanates from East to West with the “Around the World” collection. This wedding tub includes:

Pheasant Plate with Rustic Easel - Maybe one of the world's prettiest game birds, the Chinese pheasant exudes strength and prestige. This 10" plate is a feast for the eyes. It is designed with such detail it's as if you are looking at an oriental carpet. The rustic iron easel gives great contrast to this intricately designed piece.

Moroccan Hurricane - Add a little spice to your patio or tabletop with a taste of Morocco's rustic ambiance. Big enough to hold a pillar candle, this luminary will sparkle all night long.

Latina Picture Frame, 4X6 - Show off your GREEN side. This frame is made from 80% recycled resin making it environmentally friendly. Its copper metallic finish and thick outer edge give it a hip look. The frame has a dual easel back for either portrait or landscape tabletop display.

The “Hipster” couple … $60.00
You can’t get any hipper than New York sculptor, Jonathan Adler. The “Hipster” gift collection is all about sleek porcelain infused with tribal texture. This wedding tub includes:

The Muse Candle – There are 3 reasons why this is the perfect candle. First, the fresh-cut floral aroma is intoxicating. Not too strong, but intense enough to scent the room. Secondly, the wax is surrounded by delicate unglazed porcelain faces that glow as the candle burns. Truly a piece of table art. Finally, the Muse Candle comes tucked inside a chic black and white gift box. As an added bonus you can use the vessel as a unique vase by filling it with your favorite stems when the candle is spent.

The Zebra Box - An excellent addition to any coffee or end table. This black and white zebra box will accent any color palette. A unique piece that is the perfect size for hiding away everyday clutter such as coasters, reading glasses, remotes and playing cards.

Dress up your Living Room

Dose your décor without breaking the bank. Homeowners don’t always have the time and means to polish a new room. Furtub.com offers a multitude of ideas to dress-up and re-organize bare tabletops and bookshelves. Furtub.com calls this look “frugal function”.

Coffee Table Chic:
New homeowners Sean and Brittany have it all: comfy couch, end-tables, and an oversized coffee table to boot. What they are looking to do is create a sleek and polished look by incorporating what they already have with a few fresh faced pieces. Furtub.com suggests choosing coffee table accessories that are high-style while serving a function. We incorporated a Covered Catch-all on the lower portion of the table to keep the room clutter free. This ceramic catch-all is a hip way to house coasters, remotes, and reading glasses. Large coffee tables are a definite furnishing trend but decorating their expansive surface can be a challenge. A furtub tip is to divide the space in half. On one half of the table, choose a few unique books to prop up a favorite accent piece. Coffee table books are a quick and easy way to add personality to your table-top. Choose books that represent something you like to do or that showcase places you’ve been. Check out dollar stores, flea markets and the sale bin at your local book nook to stock up on some large glossy editions. Since this couple loves to entertain their friends, the Zebra Box is the perfect accent hiding away their matches, dice, pencils and playing cards. To balance out the look, add in a bowl or platter filled with unique accents. This look shows a bronze bowl filled with opulent Capiz Shell Spheres which reflect the homeowners’ love of the beach.

Easy End Table embellishments:
A fast and inexpensive way to decorate an end table is to find a stack of books that have an interesting binding. Add in a few picture frames that are in the same color and texture family to give a unified look. In this room we chose two Gold Leaf Frames to show off family pictures. To give the table height, we propped the round frame up on the stack of books and filled an old Muse candle vessel with flowers to add a punch of color.
